       How Now

Artecycle, Environmental Art Award 2013, Incinerator Gallery, Melbourne.

Stevens work examines environmental and spiritual aspects of Australian identity,
questioning land use and national and personal responsibility toward the environment.

How Now is a post-colonial reflection of the impact of pastoralism on the Australian
landscape. As the living hide reflects the dead, the exploitation of animals mirrors the
exploitation of the environment. Supported by a Capitalist economy, both dairy and
beef industries have increasingly contributed toward an ecological crisis.
